Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, Graduate School of Science and Engineering

Main targets of the Department include

  1. Geophysical observation of the Earth and planetary interiors, and theoretical and experimental studies of geophysical phenomena, such as earthquake and volcanic activities.
  2. Geophysical observation, field-survey and laboratory experiments to elucidate the evolution of the Earth and planetary environment including continents, the atmosphere and the oceans.
  3. Theoretical and cosmo-chemical studies on the evolution of the solar system over 4.6 billion years.
  4. Comparative planetary and solar system studies with space and planetary probes.

The goal of the Department is to educate far-sighted self-starting researchers
