main targets of the department include
  • 1.Geophysical observation of the Earth and planetary interiors, and theoretical and experimental studies of geophysical phenomena, such as earthquake and volcanic activities.
  • 2.Geophysical observation, field-survey and laboratory experiments to elucidate the evolution of the Earth and planetary environment including continents, the atmosphere and the oceans.
  • 3.Theoretical and cosmo-chemical studies on the evolution of the solar system over 4.6 billion years.
  • 4.Comparative planetary and solar system studies with space and planetary probes.

The goal of the Department is to educate far-sighted self-starting researchers
